CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP


1. SENIOR/FAMILY MEMBERSHIP – a family shall consist of no more than two adults and their children under the age of 18 years at 30th June in that current year.


2. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP – An individual shall be a person 18 years of age or more as at 30th June in that current year.


3. LIFE MEMBERSHIP – Life members may be appointed by the Club in recognition of outstanding service to the Club on the recommendation of the Executive Committee. No person shall be eligible for Life membership with less than 5 years good standing as a full financial member or associate member of the Club.


4. LONG TERM MEMBERSHIP – Long term membership shall be members with 25 years or more continuous financial membership of the Club.


5. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP – Associate membership may be granted at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee to a person who applies for such membership on the grounds that:

(a) The person crews on a vessel belonging to a member of the club; and/or
(b) The person wishes to enjoy the social activities of the Club; and/or

(c) The person is a bona fide student irrespective of age whom the Executive Committee considers is an appropriate person to whom Associate membership should be granted; and/or

(d) The Executive Committee considers that granting such membership is appropriate for any reason.

(e) Continuation of such membership shall be at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee and may be reviewed annually.

(f) There shall be no initial nomination fee for such membership but transfer to any other class of membership shall incur the nomination fee and the appropriate subscription for that class of membership.

(g) Associate members shall have no voting rights nor shall they be entitled to members privileges in respect of the use of the Sandspit Yacht Club’s haulout, hardstand wharf and ramp facilities.


6. CENTREBOARD DIVISION MEMBERSHIP – Centreboard members who only wish to participate in the centreboard sailing activities shall not be required to pay the nomination fee. A family shall consist of no more than two adults and their children under the age of 18 years as at 30 June in that current year. They shall have no voting rights (other than within their own division) nor be entitled to members’ privileges in respect of the use of the Sandspit Yacht Club’s haulout, hardstand, wharf and ramp facilities.


7. SPORTS FISHING DIVISION MEMBERSHIP – Sport fishing members shall not be required to pay the nomination fee. They will pay an annual fee no less than the Associate membership fee – set by the division annually. They will have no voting rights (other than within their own division) nor be entitled to members’ privileges in respect of the use of the Sandspit Yacht Club’s haulout, hardstand, wharf and ramp facilities.


NOTE: There are different Membership Application Forms for the Centreboard Division and the Sports Fishing Division. Please request these should you also wish to join one of these divisions. Thank you.
